Freezer Beef

This is our beef.

Brad and Lindsay grew up in the beef cattle industry and knew that was how they wanted to raise their family. While Isaac and Charlotte may be young, they play an active role in the farm’s day-to-day activities. They are learning at an early age where their food comes from and the importance of caring for animals.

Johnson Family Cattle sells freezer beef in quarters and halves. Contact Johnson Family Cattle to book 2024 reservations.

Look for Johnson Family Cattle  at The FRESH Project farmers market, held at Franklin Park in Shawano throughout the summer.

Follow the Johnson Family Cattle Facebook page for updates on availability and current specials.

Sirloin steak is a very versatile and underappreciated cut of meat. Grilled to perfection, it can be enjoyed with potatoes and carrots, or sliced thin and become the star of the Sirloin Cobb Salad (see next photo).

The Sirloin Cobb Salad is a family favorite around our dinner table. Everyone starts with a bed of spinach and builds their own salad. We top with homemade blue cheese dressing or a balsamic vinaigrette.

Beef Enchiladas made with Johnson Family Cattle ground beef make a quick and simple dinner on busy weeknights.

meet your farmers.

Brad grew up on a beef farm in northwestern Wisconsin. As a young boy, he studied bull sale catalogs and talked non-stop about cattle (not much has changed).

At Johnson Family Cattle, Brad takes care of day-to-day operations, breeding decisions and marketing of cattle. He's also the chief grill master!  Off the farm, Brad works as Director of Beef Genetics at GENEX.

Lindsay grew up on her family's Hereford farm about an hour south of Shawano. Cattle were a major part of her upbringing so it's no wonder Brad and Lindsay met at UW-River Falls.

At Johnson Family Cattle, Lindsay takes care of the day-to-day activities when Brad's off-farm job takes him away. She also serves as the point of contact for freezer beef sales. Contact Lindsay to book your reservation.

Off the farm, Lindsay works as the Coordinator of Shawano Downtown.

Isaac enjoys all things cattle. Additionally, he's quite the entrepreneur. He raises about 120 chickens (meat birds) each summer and plants MANY varieties of pumpkins. Watch for his pumpkins at the Shawano Farmer’s Market and his roadside stand at the end of the farm driveway.

Charlotte is our head feed mixer, record-keeper when working cows, and just makes work a lot more fun! She never misses the chance for a ride to check cows. During the summer months, Charlotte publishes a weekly newspaper, "The Charlotte Times" with most articles featuring some aspect of our farm. A future agvocate!
